30 Jan A beautiful botanical enchanted garden wedding in the spring
Styling and planning a wedding is a huge job and organising it from abroad is particularly challenging – I often plan and style weddings for brides who live in different countries. Nicole and Jan moved to America a few years ago and approached me to organise their wedding in Yorkshire at Jan’s family home.
Lissa Alexandra was hired to capture the day on camera and I was hired to help create the couple’s vision.
Nicole loves all things botanical, so the couple opted for a botanical-themed wedding, which perfectly suited the grounds of the family home. They opted for a traditional draped marquee from Classic Marquees, which was gorgeous.
With Nicole and Jan being so far away we shared ideas via Pinterest and Skype. We dressed the marquee ceiling by suspending moss and ivy hoops, wooden birdcages filled with trailing foliage in and amongst crystal chandeliers.
The tables were set in a giant ‘E’ shape, they were dressed with candelabras, vintage glass and mercury glass filled with flowers, Camomile, Astrantia, Eucalyptus, Jasmine, Veronica, Sandstorm and Amnesia roses.
It’s the personal touches that make weddings so special.
Nicole inherited her late mother’s wedding dress, which she had altered to wear on the day – she looked really beautiful.
The rain stayed away and the wedding guests, many of them from America, enjoyed a quintessentially English wedding in an enchanted woodland setting – absolutely perfect day.
