30 Jan Elegance in the grandest of settings
I want to share this gorgeous wedding with you. I met David and Kamila through some mutual friends who had kindly recommended me.
The happy couple live in a lovely old house, set in its own grounds in a park in Leeds – the perfect setting for a wedding, so perfect that we decided to use their house as the venue.
Coming from Poland, Kamila’s Polish family and friends travelled over for the wedding. The Polish have very strong, traditional values around hospitality, so food played a big part of the day.
David and Kamila chose Paul and Amanda Heffernan of Upcroft House Farm to cater for their wedding. The menu was chosen to wow the Polish guests and show them how good English food can be – naturally it didn’t disappoint.
My job was to style and dress the house and gardens. The rooms of the house were large and grand so we used large and particularly tall flower arrangements. The wedding breakfast took place in two large reception rooms; we dressed the tables with lanterns, flowers and candles. The huge fireplaces were dressed with Gypsohela and foliage.
The wedding began with a brunch served to the family and guests from Poland in the large hall of the house. Afterwards, the guests left for Leeds Town Hall for the official marriage ceremony. They also had another ceremony that we dressed for 100 extra guests at their house.
The ceremony went by without a hitch and everyone spilled out into the beautiful gardens for canapés and drinks. Let the party commence!
